On May 2nd, 1999 Michael Schumacher and Ferrari won the San Marino Grand Prix. Three days earlier, at the entrance to the circuit, La Rampante, an accumulation of cars in red bronze, cut and superimposed, had been inaugurated in the presence of its author, the artist Arman, and the gallery owners who had commissioned it, Franco and Roberta Calarota, with their daughter Alessia, now director of Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m. from Bologna. As the galleries' partnerships with the hotel industry multiply, this five-metre-high sculpture, which has become a symbol of the Imola circuit and a monument celebrating the history of Ferrari, will be exhibited in the hall of Sina Bernini Bristol in Rome for the «Open Space» project.
It will be different than dedicating a room to works of art, as in the case of Galleria Continua's collaboration with St. Regis Hotel. In this case, a central place is given to the sculpture, whose value, for the latter edition available, goes up around 100,000 euros. «We like the idea that a wider public can enjoy a unique artistic and historical experience in a place open 24/7, explains the director. For the occasion, the manufacturer from Maranello had granted the master of Nouveau Réalisme the use of their iconic red colour. They are therefore the only works of art officially authorized by Ferrari». The famous Bolognese gallery, which opened a foundation in Palazzo Franchetti in Venice in 2019, thus varies its exhibition spaces by launching this adventure in the name of Italian spirit: the Sina Hotels group announces its intention to enhance the Genius loci of the main cities of art of the Peninsula, from Rome to Florence, as well as Perugia or Capri.
