The Parisian venue of Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m. hosts the return of the great contemporary Italian artist Sandro Chia with a solo exhibition of one of the protagonists of the Transavanguardia, a movement that made him an established artist on the international art scene. The term of the movement, coined by Achille Bonito Oliva, supported a poetic research aimed at recovering the Italian artistic tradition and suggested turning one's gaze to the origins and history of Italian art, which in the case of Chia led him to confront not only painting, but also sculpture, mosaic and ceramics. In 2011 the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza in collaboration with the Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m. organized the large exhibition “Sandro Chia Ceramica vs Disegno 1:0”, where painting and ceramics integrate and merge, creating a poetic continuum. Because, quoting Chia himself, «Without painting and poetry, life is little more than nothing.».
