Giorgio de Chirico, de la Metafisica à la Neo Metafisica: IWATE, Japan | produced by Fondazione Calarota with the support of Galleria d'Arte Maggiore g.a.m.

21 June - 22 August 2014

Giorgio de Chirico is a prominent painter of the 20th century. Born in Greece and later moved to Rome, the painter is known for his motifs such as ancient architecture, statues and locomotives. The metaphysical painting he created was made to make the everyday world appear visible on the canvas and after returning to classicism after the Great World War, he created new metaphysical paintings in his later years. De Chirico's work is on the border between reality and fiction and fascinates us because of the great mystery hidden in his works, which creates an attractive estrangement for the viewer.
This exhibition brings together works from the collection of the widow Isabella de Chirico, donated to the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, from works owned by Japan and other European countries and includes about 110 masterpieces from all eras.
