Davide Benati (Reggio Emilia, 1949) is an artist with a career rich in prestigious experiences. After his debut in Milan in 1972, Benati went through the 80s enriching his career with solo exhibitions and participation in major events. Son of the Brera Academy, his brush combines abstraction and figuration in an always innovative way.
Among his most significant milestones: the Venice Biennale in which he participated twice, both in 1982 and in 1990 with a solo exhibition at the Italian Pavilion. It was 1986 when he took part in the Quadriennale in Rome. The exhibitions at the Galleria Civica museum in Modena in 1990 and at the Civic Museums of Reggio Emilia in 1992 consolidated his reputation.
In 1999, he fascinated the public of the Goulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and in 2000 that of the Cité du Livre in Aix-En-Provence.
Benati has also marked international events in Nuremberg, Trento, Lisbon and Cairo. His works have crossed borders, being exhibited in galleries in Stockholm, Hamburg, Zurich, Paris and New York.
He currently lives and works in Reggio Emilia, where he is preparing a new solo exhibition at the Palazzo Magnani Museum (Reggio Emilia) in December 2024. Benati continues to be a leading figure in the contemporary art panorama.
