Following the growing interest for Giorgio Morandi's work in the world, Franco and Roberta Calarota of Galleria d'Arte Maggiore in Bologna dedicate this exhibition to the graphic art of Giorgio Morandi. The aim is to give the deserved prominence to an essential part of the bolognese Master's artistic production which goes at the same pace with the realization of works on canvas, in terms of importance, quality of the achieved results and linguistic autonomy. The exhibition is composed of nearly forty etchings realized between 1912 and 1961 stressing again the role played by this technique in Morandi's most authentic and innovative research: the transfiguration of the real world – or of “what can be seen” as the artist used to say – into formal values, based on wise plays of light and on the composition of the shapes.
